MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Bird lovers flocked to Middletown today for an event that was all about birds.
The public got to meet parrots and other birds at Featherfest. They also met with bird owners and experts.
Owners learned more about what kind of food to buy for their feathered friends. They also browsed bird related decorations and clothing.
The event is a major fundraiser for Connecticut Parrot Society.
“We have an adoption program for people that have to give up a parrot because someone in the family may have passed away,” said Robert Cosgrove, President of Connecticut Parrot Society. “These guys live for 50 to 80 years so they’re around for a long time. It’s a lifetime commitment.”
Bird enthusiasts also attended a presentation where they learned about wild birds here in Connecticut, including a hawk, an eagle and an owl.
