(WTNH) — Are you looking to get out of the house this weekend? Are you still trying to make weekend plans? We’ve got 8 ideas that are fun for the entire family.

The first day of spring is on Sunday. If that gets you thinking about playing some golf, swing by the Connecticut Golf Show. Try out the free indoor driving range, test out some clubs or take a lesson from a PGA pro. That’s at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford on Saturday and Sunday starting at 9 a.m.

Looking to spend some time outside on Saturday? Lace up your sneakers and head to the Savin Rock Marathon & Half Marathon in West Haven. There will be awards and food after the race. It starts on Saturday morning at 8 o’clock.

If you missed the St. Patrick’s Day festivities this past week it’s not too late to celebrate! The Mystic Irish Parade steps off at Mystic Seaport on Sunday at 1 p.m. The three hour long parade celebrates Irish Heritage with bands and floats.

If you’ve been thinking about getting a dog why not do that this weekend? Half a dozen rescue groups will be at a dog adoption event in Colchester on Sunday. You’ll get to meet more than 70 dogs and maybe take one home with you. The event is at 11 a.m. at John Gagnon’s Pet Resort.

Spring starts this Sunday, but the Connecticut Spring Antiques Show kicks off on Saturday. There you’ll find pre-1840 American furniture as well as art. That’s happening all weekend at the State Armory in Hartford. It starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.

Or if you’d like to create your very own art head to Fairfield Museum and History Center on Sunday at 1 p.m. They’re having a celebration of handmade crafts. Make something of your own or watch demonstrations by local artisans. And it’s free.

Don’t put away your green clothes or shamrock accessories just yet! St. Patrick’s Day may be over, but the O’Niantic 5K, Walk, Jig or Jog will be getting started on Saturday morning at 9 o’clock in Niantic. Don’t forget to wear a costume – you may win a prize.And bring a nonperishable food donation; it’ll help local people in need.

How does a family friendly maple syrup celebration sound? You’ll find all things maple syrup at the Hebron Maple Festival. It starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Take a tour of the sugar house, listen to live music, or get your kids’ faces painted. Speaking of sweet – most activities are free.
