EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — If you drive on the Route 2/ I-84 interchange you might be seeing some delays in the next several months. Construction is expected to start on the bridge on Monday. It needs work and construction is expected to affect traffic over the next ten months or so.
There will be planned closures of the Route 2 westbound ramp to the Founders Bridge. The construction is part of the ongoing $22 million bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects within the Route 2/I-84 interchange.
There will be lane closures on Route 2, I-84 and some ramps at night between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Drivers may also see lane closures on nearby streets during the week.
Drivers can expect traffic shut downs on I-84 eastbound near exit 55 between 12 a.m. and 5 p.m. as crews work.
There will be detours to reroute drivers during the construction. Drivers are asked to expect delays and to take another route whenever possible.
