WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTNH) — The New England Air Museum is took its exhibits to new heights today. It was Open Cockpit Saturday and museum visitors got to sit in the cockpits of eight different vintage aircraft. They could also climb into the cockpit of a flight simulator, which is an old airplane that kids and adults could steer. There were also much smaller airplanes to see in the model airplane show.
Organizers were hoping that visitors of all ages would learn something today.
“We really want to inspire children, get them excited,” said Gina Maria Alimberti, Director of Visitor Services at the museum. “They see the aircraft and get into the aircraft and that just brings it all alive.”
The museum has events like this several times a year. It’ll be having another one on Monday.
