WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — With skeletons, ghosts, and Halloween lights, one house in Wallingford looks ready for trick-or-treaters.
Vince Proto begins decorating begins in mid-September. He looks forward to Halloween each year.
“For one night, if we can make one family smile and have a good time, it’s worth it,” Proto said.
All of the decorations have made his house a popular spot for trick-or-treaters. The homeowners are expecting about 1,300 kids on Halloween night.
“Safety obviously is our first goal. And I think a big part of that is with them closing the street, you don’t have all the cars dropping kids off,” Proto said.

Police recommend following some rules so the only scary things about Halloween are the decorations and costumes. Watch out for cars and wear bright colors so people can see you. Many parents already have a plan.
“We go to New Life Church and they’re doing the truck-or-treat and that’s where we’re taking them,” said Lynn Santos of Meriden.
Police say kids should never be tricked into going inside a house or a car for a treat, and always have an adult with them.
“Everyone will have a flashlight. Candy’s not eaten until it gets home and is inspected by Mom and Dad,” said parent Scott Aresco.
Homeowners are urged to make sure walkways are clear so families can come and go safely.
Proto will be putting more decorations outside on Halloween, but he’s careful to make sure families are safe while enjoying them.
“When you have so many people come to see the work, the hard work you put into something and appreciate it, enough said. “That’s what it’s all about,” Proto said.
