If you’ve never been to Christmas Village in Torrington, you can go this weekend. It opens for its 68th year on Sunday afternoon with a parade. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in a horse drawn carriage. Families who have been say it’s worth the trip.
“That’s totally free if you’re willing to wait in line,” said Yazmin Jason, creator of Connecticut Mommy Blog. “I think last year we waited about two or three hours to see Santa, but you prepare for it and it was really worth it.”
If you’re looking for something that’s fun for the kids the Christmas Town Festival in Bethlehem is the place for you. The old-fashioned Christmas celebration will be held on the town green on Friday and Saturday nights.
How about spreading holiday cheer by taking a ride on a train? Stop by the Railroad Museum of New England in Thomaston. Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves give a gift to every child on board.
If you’re looking to check out some festive holiday lights you wont want to miss Holiday Light Fantasia at Goodwin Park in Hartford. You’ll see more than a million lights as well as animations that celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Three Kings Day and New Years.
