Looking for something to do this weekend? We’ve got 8 ideas for you

(WTNH) — Though the calendar may say November, this week has felt a bit more like September! This weekend might be one of the warmest we’ll have for a while so you’ll want to get out and enjoy it. We’ve got your back with 8 ideas for things you and your family can do together this weekend.

Mystic Aquarium will be celebrating Veterans Day all weekend long and through Wednesday. Veterans and active duty service members get in for free Saturday through Wednesday. Their family members will get a discount too.

The holidays are right around the corner. If you are thinking about getting a jump on your shopping it’s One Stop Holiday Shopping on Saturday at East Lyme High School.
Fill your bags with goodies as you browse more than 50 vendors, plus there will be activities for the kids.

If books are on your wishlist check out the November Book Nook Sale at the Trumbull Library on Saturday. There you’ll find all different kinds of books, including Christmas books. You’ll be able to find something for the whole family to read.

If you’re looking to tell your own story this weekend we’ve got something for you. Tellabration! is happening at the Connecticut Historical Society in Hartford on Saturday. It’s a mammoth storytelling event for kids and adults.

Do you have a future Alex Trebek in your family? Bring your 5 to 10-year-old son to Mother-Son Game Show night on Saturday at the Stamford JCC. You’ll play games like Easy Jeopardy! and Name that Tune.

The Autism Resource Fair is also happening on Saturday at the Oakdale Theater Complex in Wallingford. There you’ll find national and state resources. There will be more than 100 exhibitors in all plus workshops and activities for the kids.

If you’re feeling hungry on Saturday the Coventry Chilifest is the place for you. It will be held in the Coventry High School cafeteria. Individuals and restaurants are submitting their favorite chili recipes – and you get to be the judge! Be sure to bring your appetite.

Finally, for a fun race with plenty of pink flamingos stop by the Vicki Soto 5K. The run honors the memory of a special teacher who died in the Sandy Hook shooting.Vicki would have turned 30 this week and the race is held in her hometown of Stratford. The flamingoes were a favorite animal of Vicki’s.
