BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– Branford police are investigating an untimely death after a body was found on the side of a road Wednesday.

Police say a public works employee found the body around 7:30 a.m. in a remote area. It was on the side of a dirt roadway that connects Ark and Pine Orchard Roads. It’s on land known as the Tabor property, which is owned by the town.

“We’ve never had anything like this here ever,” said Marie Fitch, who lives nearby. “[It’s a] family neighborhood. People walk in and out of there. The greenway is right there.”

The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Joseph Miller of Branford. Police believe Miller’s body had been on the side of the dirt road since Tuesday evening. They say his death appears suspicious at this time.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (203)481-4241 or (203)315-3909.
