WESTON, Conn. (WTNH) — The son of the Easton couple found dead on Thursday is facing murder charges. A $2.5 million bond has been set for Kyle Navin. His girlfriend, Jennifer Valiante, was arrested in Westport on Friday night. She is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and hindering the prosecution.

The arrest warrant for Jennifer Valiante includes details of the search for Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin, as well as the investigation into Kyle Navin and Valiante’s involvement. It says that Kyle Navin was the last known person to have contact with both of his parents, who had been missing since early August. Their bodies were found on Norfield Road in Weston on Thursday.

“We went there with our officers and located areas in the yard that appeared suspicious and may contain evidence that may be linked to the Navin case,” said Weston Police Chief John Troxell.

According to the arrest warrant, Kyle Navin never once reached out to authorities to ask about the status of the investigation. He gave police four separate statements about his parents’ disappearance that were inconsistent and didn’t match the evidence. Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin’s friends and family members told police that Kyle Navin had had a strained relationship with his parents for years. Police found he’d been using drugs and that he owed money.

Police seized Navin’s and Valiante’s cell phones and recovered deleted text messages they had sent each other in the months leading up to Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin’s disappearance:

May 14, 2015:
Kyle to Jennifer: I was trying not to punch him in the face and get arrested because if I do punch him I won’t be able to stop.
Kyle to Jennifer: We need to figure out what the best way to take them down whether it is get some money out of them somehow…something we got to figure out I’m (sic) got to be real smart and do it quick.

July 8, 2015
Kyle to Jennifer: I’m telling you wipe out the infection and get $ for life. It’s perfect plan (sic).
Jennifer to Kyle: I don’t like that they call the shots. When they ‘choose’ to be friendly it’s all good but when the (sic) ‘choose’ to start trouble it’s war.
Kyle to Jennifer: I really like that idea. That’ll allow [us] to stay in our house pay for a full top line remodel and new garage. And have hundreds of thousands to buy my cummins and you a new car and enjoy life taking vacations, having fun with friends no stress no contact ever again with the bad people.

The Weston community was shaken when Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin’s bodies were found and people were thinking of them and their family.

“Jeanette was always fabulous, always fun to be around,” said Weston resident Erin Moore. “The kids loved her and we are very saddened to hear this is their fate.”

“It’s been going on too long,” said Laura Smits of Weston. “So hopefully this family can get resolution.”

Police searched Kyle Navin’s home in Bridgeport and found guns and ammunition.
