(WTNH) — It’s Father’s Day Weekend – are you looking for something special to do with Dad? We’ve got your back with some ideas that will be fun for him and for the whole family.
If you’d like to go for a bike ride on Saturday, why not ride to help veterans? The RIDE for our Vets benefits the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center, which provides free services to vets. Meet on Cummings Point Road. There are rides of different lengths through Stamford, plus food and drinks. The first ride starts at 7 a.m.
If you’re looking for something magical to do with dad this weekend, head to Warsaw Park in Ansonia. The Midsummer Fantasy Renaissance Faire’s Grand Opening Weekend is here. You’ll find stage shows, music and games, plus activities for kids. It starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Want to get outside this weekend? Enjoy the late spring weather at the Beat the Heat 5K in Woodbridge. It’s a charity event at Amity Regional High School with food and family-friendly activities. The event honors lives lost in fire related incidents. It starts at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Celebrate Dad this Sunday with a barbecue picnic. Head to Lyman Orchards where you’ll find chicken, burgers, desserts, and lots more. There are seatings at 1 and 3 p.m. Be sure to bring your appetite.
If you’d like to spend Father’s Day together as a family, head to Essex Steam Train. Visiting will be a home run – you’ll get to chat with Babe Ruth on the trains. If you go on a train or boat trip you’ll get a free family portrait, and that’s something Dad will have for years to come. It starts at 10 a.m.
It’s strawberry season – celebrate with your family at Hindinger Farm in Hamden on Saturday. The Strawberry Festival begins at 11 a.m. If you’re hungry there will be strawberry shortcake, strawberry ice cream and lots of other food. Something else to celebrate? It’s free.
Is Dad a foodie? Take him to the New England Food Truck Affair in Guilford. You’ll find something delicious at the more than two dozen food trucks that will be at the Guilford Fairgrounds. It begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
Besides celebrating Father’s Day this weekend, why not celebrate an anniversary? It’s the West Haven Community House’s 75th anniversary, and there will be a big party on the green on Saturday.
