DERBY, Conn. (WTNH) — The weather is getting colder and that means the season for outdoor car shows is about over. Heav’nly Donuts in Derby held its season ending car cruise on Sunday.
Organizers expected about 150 classic cars. The event got started a little later because of the weather, but car enthusiasts still came out to show off their cars. Folks who came to check them out brought food to donate. They filled one of the antique cars with non-perishable food items.
The donations will go to the Spooner House, which provides food, shelter and support for those in need. The pantries need to be stocked for the winter months.
“It makes everybody feel good,” said Heav’nly Donuts owner Ernie Badas. “After loading up the van and stuff to fill it up you’re tired but it’s a good tired. You’re doing something good.”
Badas says they are hoping to collect more donated food than they did at their food drive this past spring.
