FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Kids in Fairfield will be heading back to school tomorrow for the first time since all 17 schools in town went into lockdown on Friday morning. Students were dismissed early after a series of threats were called in against several of the schools. It was a scary day for the kids, as well as their parents and teachers.

Fairfield police say they were well prepared for it, however. After the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting they came up with a security plan. They’ve trained teachers and administrators on how to respond to emergency situations and they are confident that everyone will be safe tomorrow. There will be officers at the schools to make sure they’re secure as well as support for kids and teachers.

“We’re going to have plenty of counselors – both professional counselors, counselors from the state and also in house within the Board of [Education] to actually help teachers, parents, children, any staff members who might need the help,” said Lt. James Perez of the Fairfield Police Department.

Police are still looking for whoever made those threats. No one was hurt.
