Looking to do some shopping while supporting local vendors? Head to the Farmington Polo Grounds in Farmington for the Made in Connecticut Expo. More than local 300 vendors selling handmade crafts, clothing, food and art will be there. You’ll find activities for the kids too. It starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday and on Sunday.
If you’re looking to do something fun and educational on Saturday, head to the Yale Center for British Art in New Haven. It’s Community Day, a day full of fun programs and activities. Catch a film on the architecture of the building or go on a tour. It starts at 10 o’clock, and it’s free.
Boating season is almost here and it’s the perfect time to check out a boat show. You can do just that in Essex this weekend. The Connecticut Spring Boat Show starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday and on Sunday. You’ll see sail and power boats, plus gear and accessories. It will be held at Brewer Essex Island Marina. This will float your boat – it’s free.
Looking to get some exercise this weekend? Head to Orange on Saturday for the Panther Pounce 5K road race. There will be awards and raffle prizes. The money raised benefits the Peck Place School PTO. It starts at 9 a.m. at High Plains Community Center.
Are you looking for something the entire family can do together? Check out Riverfest in New Haven on Sunday. It’s an annual celebration of the historic Fair Haven waterfront and the Quinnipiac River with food and live music. It starts at 11 a.m. at Quinnipiac Marina. Something else to celebrate – it’s free.
How would you like to get the family outside? Head to Mystic for the Half Marathon and 10K. Run along the scenic shoreline or cheer on this year’s runners. Bring a food donation – it’ll help local families in need. The fun begins at 7 a.m. at Old Mistick Village.
Want to learn about local history as a family? Head to the Connecticut River Museum in Essex for Burning of the Ships Day. You’ll mark the worst day in the town’s history with the Loser’s Day Parade and historic reenactments. There will be activities for the kids too. It’s this Saturday at 1 p.m.
It’s New Haven Bike Month and you can celebrate this Sunday. Pedal to Paris is a ride that’ll take you from the downtown New Haven Free Public Library to Long Wharf Theater. You’ll make stops at some museums on the way. It starts at noon.
