NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Saturday was a beautiful day for a bike ride – and that’s how more than a thousand people in New Haven spent part of the day.
It was the 8th year of the Rock to Rock Earth Day Ride. There were five routes, each one a different length. Riders cycled through New Haven’s neighborhoods and parks.
The ride is a celebration of Earth Day and the city’s environmental resources. It also raises money for more than two dozen different environmental organizations.
“It’s a changing world right now and it’s important for us to really think about the environment for the future generations of our city and of the world,” said Anna Pickett, a co-organizer of the ride.
Organizers were hoping to raise about $200,000 at this year’s ride.
