(WTNH) — It’s starting to get warmer out – are you looking to get out of the house this weekend? We’ve got your back with some ideas that are fun for the whole family, and some of them benefit a good cause.

Earth Day is coming, but it’s not too early to celebrate. Hamden will be doing just that on Saturday. You’ll find food, music and animals at this family-friendly event. The Earth Day celebration starts at 10 a.m. at Hamden Middle School. Another reason to celebrate? It’s free.

You may think of the fall as the time to hunt for apples, but you can do that this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Lyman Orchards. Search for thousands of apples from the orchard in a hay maze. Kids will get their faces painted and watch a magic show. You may even get to go for a ride on a pony.

How would you like to get outside on Saturday? Lace up your sneakers and run to Winding Trails in Farmington for Reid’s Run. It’s a 5K and walk through the woods, and it supports a cancer program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. It starts at 9 a.m.

You won’t want to miss the 75th annual Bristol OM Show this Saturday. This is the longest continuing variety show in the U.S. You’ll see shows from the past 75 years, including Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray and Jersey Boys. There are shows at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic High School.

Looking to spend some time outside? There are walks around the state that raise money for people with multiple sclerosis. Head to Fairfield on Saturday morning or Cheshire, Simsbury, Waterford or West Hartford on Sunday morning. Check in is at 9, the walks start at 10.

Do you love to draw but want some inspiration? Pick up your colored pencils and head to Middletown for the Big Draw. The event “draws” beginners and experienced artists who want to celebrate the arts. It will be held at Davison Art Center at Wesleyan University at 1 p.m. on Saturday. And it’s free.

Looking for something fun to do on Saturday morning? Head to Killingworth’s main fire station for the annual auction. People donate everything – the department has auctioned off everything from pianos to lawnmowers. It’s fun for the whole family. It starts at 9 o’clock.

How does getting outside and playing some wiffle ball sound? Katie’s Game is this Sunday at noon at Quinnipiac University. The tournament raises money for Camp Sunshine, which is a retreat for kids with life threatening illnesses and their families.
