(WTNH) — Valentine’s Day is this Sunday. If you are looking for something to do with your sweetheart or with your family this weekend we’ve got 8 fun ideas for you.
Are you looking for something the whole family can do together this weekend? What better way to enjoy Valentine’s Day and winter than the Fire & Ice Valentine’s Festival? Find fire in torches and dancing performances and ice in sculptures and luminarias. Things are heating up this Saturday in downtown Putnam from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Do you want to plan a date with someone special that will let you feel like a kid again? Stop by the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk on Saturday morning from 8 to 10 o’clock. First you will eat breakfast, then you will make the rounds with staff as they feed hungry seals and sharks. Be sure to save room for dessert – everyone will take a box of chocolates home.
If you want to do something fun and crafty with your kids this weekend, stop by an A.C. Moore craft store on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3 o’clock. There you’ll get in the mood for Valentine’s Day by making your very own magnetic heart frame that you’ll love. You’ll also love that it’s free. It will be happening at the store in Orange.
If you’d like to go all out this Valentine’s Day, did you know you can tie the knot for free? If you and your valentine have been wanting to get married head to the Meeting House at Old Mistick Village in Mystic on Sunday afternoon. Free wedding ceremonies will be performed from 2 to 4 o’clock. You’ll then have something to celebrate every year on Valentine’s Day.
Are you looking to warm up this Valentine’s Day weekend and escape the winter weather? Stop by Mystic Aquarium, where it is Tropical “Sunsation” Week. You’ll find live music, hula lessons and limbo contests. That’s happening all weekend long and through Sunday, February 21.
Are you looking to get creative this Valentine’s Day? Try your hand at painting at Ali Baba’s Fusion in Hamden. First you’ll enjoy a three course meal with your valentine. That and everything you will need to paint will be provided. That’s on Saturday night from 6 to 8 o’clock.
If you would rather dive into history instead of crafts spend your Valentine’s Day at Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington. The Valentine’s Day Open House will start at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Explore the historic house and its Impressionist masterpieces. Then enjoy a champagne toast with your sweetheart.
Are you looking to add a little mystery and glamour to your Valentine’s Day? Bring your date to a murder mystery dinner at the Gershon Fox Ballroom in Hartford. The mystery starts at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Be sure to solve the crime before the menace gets away. Don’t forget your dancing shoes!
