WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTNH) — Bradley International Airport is expected to be very busy this holiday season. On top of that, there are some new security changes.
The TSA expects more than 10,000 passengers on the busy travel days, and officers are ready for it.
“We’re fully staffed. We have our officers ready to accommodate passengers when they get there,” said TSA spokesman Michael McCarthy. “Just help yourself out, allow yourself plenty of time.”

The airport will be swamped with travelers on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The TSA is working to make sure all passengers get to their destinations safely. That’ll mean some of the rules for going through security will be a bit stricter.
“We do have an enhanced procedure now for carry-on luggage,” said McCarthy. “If you’re a passenger who doesn’t travel frequently, this is something new that you’ll experience.”
Laptop computers are no longer the only gadgets that’ll have to go into bins for screening. From now on, anything larger than a cell phone will have to go in bins too.
“Be prepared – just have [electronics] in an outer pocket or in a separate bag that you can easily access when you get to the checkpoint,” said McCarthy.

Even though this will be one more thing for passengers to keep in mind as they go through security, passengers say they’re on board.
“I do think it’s a good idea. You can never be too careful when it comes to safety,” said Hayley Gola of Norwalk. “But it does make me a little anxious just because I usually travel with many electronics.”
More than two million passengers nationwide are expected to fly each day leading up to Thanksgiving. That’s more than last year.
