New Year’s Eve is Uber’s busiest night of the year, but the higher demand means higher prices. It’s known as surge pricing. You could pay two to eight times more for your ride. There are ways to save money, however.
Peak traffic hours are expected to be between 12:30 and 2:30 tomorrow morning. If you get a ride before or after that you might find lower fares.
Another option that can save you money is uberPOOL, which allows you to split your fare with others. You might not get home as quickly though.
If you are in a safe place and can walk a few blocks you might find demand and prices are lower.
Prices are updated every five minutes so if fares are too high and you are not in a rush keep trying.
