NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -– New Haven police are investigating three shootings in less than a week. They happened at three different locations in the city, and investigators say two of them may be connected.
The most recent shooting happened on Sunday afternoon. Police were called to Walnut Street, where people in two cars were reportedly shooting at each other. The victim was a 21-year-old man. He was shot in the face and arm.

Just a day earlier, a 13-year-old boy was shot in the leg in the area of Shelton Avenue and Ivy Street. Both victims were taken to the hospital and police say they are expected to survive.
On Wednesday night a 14-year-old boy was shot several times in the area of Bassett and Newhall Streets. He died the next morning.

News 8 spoke with people who live, work or go to school in New Haven. They say they are concerned for their safety.
“I feel like I always have to be in a group of at least three or four people,” said Amanda Damon, who goes to school in New Haven. “Sometimes it’s all girls and you kind of have to wonder, are we going to make it home?”

Police say despite these recent shootings, crime is significantly down in the city. There have been far fewer homicides, non-fatal shootings and shots fired.
