CLINTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Investigators are trying to identify the body of a man found in Long Island Sound. Two boaters found the body some distance from the shoreline at around 11:30 on Saturday morning and immediately contacted authorities.

Clinton’s police and fire departments responded. Sean Morrissey was working near the Clinton Town Marina at the time.

“We saw all of it go down. The rapid involvement and the quickness the Clinton Fire Department responded was absolutely amazing,” he said.

Police say the man was wearing a black and blue bathing suit and a black tank top. They believe he had been in the water for a few days.

“Everybody feels bad for the family,” said Michael Fitzgerald, who was at the marina later on Saturday.

There are still a lot of questions. Police do not yet know how the man died, but they say he did not have any apparent injuries. Those spending Saturday afternoon by the marina say they’re shocked.

“[It is] not very common at all actually,” said Beth Hart of Clinton. “I haven’t really heard of anything like this happening over here.”

The man was average height and had a thin to medium build. Police say he did not have any tattoos.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Clinton Police at 860-669-0451.
