MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Bridgeport woman is facing multiple charges in connection with a hit-and-run incident that seriously injured a woman in Milford last August.

Antonia Monique Pierce, 30, of Bridgeport, was taken into custody on Friday.

The incident happened at the intersection of Bridgeport Avenue and Woodland Avenues. Through their preliminary investigation, police determined that a dark-colored sedan was traveling eastbound on Bridgeport Avenue when it struck 34-year-old Amanda Keane, of Stratford, as well as a car that she was attempting to get into.

“Thank God they’ve been so relentless with working to find who did this to me,” said Keane.

Keane suffered a fractured skull, broken neck, and broken back.

Some lawmakers have called the part of Route 1 where the accident took place the most dangerous stretch of road in Milford.

Pierce is facing charges of Assault in the Second Degree, Reckless Driving, and Evasion of Responsibility. Police found her car.

“It was clear there was some recent damage,” said Michael Devito of the Milford Police Department. “It was fixed nonprofessionally. The damage to the vehicle matched the damage that we had left on the scene.”

Police say Pierce lived in Milford, not far from where the accident occurred. However, she moved to Bridgeport shortly after it happened.

“She had quickly moved out, we believe about ten days after the accident, very abruptly, leaving behind several important items,” Devito said.

Meanwhile, Keane does not remember the accident. She still gets dizzy and is sometimes forgetful. She cannot go back to work.

“Her life is never going to be the same,” said Yvonne Rose, Keane’s mother. “People don’t know that or see that and she seems like she’s fine.”

Pierce is being held on a $10,000 bail. She is due in court next month.

“I try not to be angry over the fact that this happened,” said Keane. “As far as I know, it was an accident.”
