HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Car enthusiasts got revved up Sunday for the final day of the Connecticut International Auto Show.
It was held at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. Car enthusiasts like Paul Kruglov of Woodbridge stop by every year to see the exotic cars, classic cars and trucks.
“It’s kind of a family tradition,” said Kruglov. “We enjoy cars, we like cars.”
There were a hundred vehicles and more than thirty manufacturers in all. They included cars that many people have not seen, including a hydrogen powered Toyota prototype. The cars were brand new; there were even some 2017 models out on the floor.
“It’s always exciting to see what’s new and what’s fresh and what’s out there in regards to technology and innovation,” said Kruglov.
Green technology is one thing that was new at this year’s show. Many of the latest hybrid and electric cars get 40 miles per gallon or more.
“Gas prices – they’re great right now,” said Barbara Pudney, the show producer. “We know what they’ve been and we know where they could go so you want something that will keep some dollars in your pocket.”
Unlike many car shows, enthusiasts didn’t just have to look, they could touch too. Folks could sit in the cars to see what they liked. The cars weren’t for sale, however, so there was no pressure to buy anything.
“You can also look at your dream cars when you’re here, which is always the fun part,” said Pudney.
Though Kruglov wasn’t looking to buy a car he found plenty that he liked – both dream cars and some that were a bit more practical.
“Some of my favorite vehicles are SUVs and trucks,” he said. “We live in New England and the weather conditions aren’t so nice especially during the winter months.”
Part of the proceeds from ticket sales are donated to charities in Connecticut.
