NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — Central Connecticut State University Police on Thursday received a report of an alleged sexual assault.
Campus police originally said the incident occurred on October 8 at 12:30 a.m. in the Willard and Diloreto parking lot.
The school sent an alert to students, faculty and staff on Thursday to let them know about the reported sexual assault. It sent the following notice to everyone on Thursday night:
“This is an update to the previous Clery notice of the sexual assault reported to have taken place on October 8. Through further investigation CCSU Police have now determined that the reported sexual assault did not occur on CCSU’s campus.”
Police had no description of a suspect in the original report of an assault. The alleged victim was not a CCSU student or staff member.
Police say there was a sexual assault on campus just last month.
Students on campus Thursday evening say they aren’t worried.
“I generally feel really safe on campus. I’ve never been walking back from any classes late at night or rehearsals late at night and felt uncomfortable or that there was any danger around me,” said CCSU sophomore Kendra Garnett.
CCSU police are asking anyone with any information about the possible sexual assault to call Lieutenant Edward Dercole (860-832-2394), Detective Densil Samuda (860-832-2381) or the police dispatcher (860-832-2375).
