(WTNH) — It’s beginning to feel like summer! Are you looking to spend some time outside with your family this weekend? We’ve got 8 ideas that are fun for everyone.
Do you love animals? You won’t want to miss Catherine’s Butterfly Party in Newtown on Saturday. The festival celebrates the life of a first grader who died in the Sandy Hook tragedy and her love of animals. There will be several for you to meet and maybe take home at the pet adoption event. It will start at noon at the Fairfield Hills Campus. And it’s free.
Are you into arts and crafts? Then check out the Fair on the Green in Milford. Meet more than 100 vendors selling their own handmade items. That’s this Saturday at 10 a.m.
Looking to do something fun while making a difference? Lace up your sneakers and head to Bushnell Park in Hartford. Race for the Cure raises money for the fight against breast cancer. Run or walk the 5K, or cheer the runners on. It will start at 8:15 on Saturday morning. Be sure to wear pink!
Carnival season is here. Celebrate in West Haven this Saturday starting at 2 p.m. Head to Saint Louis Church, where you’ll find games, music, a dunk tank and rides. Bring your appetite – there will be plenty to eat.
Stomach growling? Head to the New Haven Food Truck Festival on Saturday. You’ll be sure to find something delicious to eat, from Mexican food to pizza to dessert. There will be an area just for kids, and children age 12 and under get in for free. It starts at 11 a.m. at Long Wharf Park.
Looking for something fun that the family can do together? The Puerto Rican Day Parade & Festival del Coqui will be held in Hartford. Head to Bushnell Park, where you’ll experience the sights, music and food of the Hispanic culture. The festivities start at noon on Sunday.
If you’re looking for a day of family fun, head to Eisenhower Park in Milford this Sunday. It’s Touch A Truck, where you’ll get to sit in more than two dozen different trucks. You might even get to honk the horn. After you explore those trucks, stop by a food truck. It starts at 11 a.m.
Got little kids? They’ll love the Little Folks Fair in Guilford. The town green will be transformed into a playground for kids. The fun starts this Saturday at 11 a.m.
