Looking for something fun to do this weekend? We’ve got 8 ideas

(WTNH) – The weekend is almost here. Are you looking for something to do? We’ve got some ideas that are fun for the whole family.

Looking for something that’s great to do with young kids? Check out JCC Family Fun Day in Woodbridge. Besides bounce houses and games you’ll get to see more than 20 trucks close up, including the Mobile Weather Lab. Don’t forget to say “hello” to Meteorologist Sam Kantrow while you’re there. It starts at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning at the JCC. And it’s free.

Are you into drones? Then Hartford is the place to be on Saturday. The Hartford UAV Challenge is the first drone competition of its kind in the northeast. It starts at 10 a.m. at Dillon Stadium. Don’t miss the Aerial Acrobatics Show and circuit racing.

Seth G. Haley Elementary School in West Haven will be transformed into a spring carnival this Saturday. You’ll find carnival food, plus games, mini golf, bounce houses and more than 50 vendors. The fun starts at 11 a.m. Don’t miss the dunk tank game; the fourth graders are running it!

If you like arts & crafts you won’t want to miss the Shoreline Spring Festival in Madison. There you’ll find more than 100 arts & crafts vendors, plus food trucks. There’s lots to do – you can fly a kite or get a henna tattoo. It’s this Saturday at 10 a.m. on the Madison Green. And it’s free to get in.

The Robin Hood Springtime Festival kicks off in North Haven this weekend. Find out what a festival might have been like in12th century England. Meet Robin Hood, as well as knights, magicians and fire-eaters. Don’t forget to bring your four-legged family members – it’s pet weekend. It starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the North Haven Fairgrounds.

If you’d like to reach for the stars on Saturday night head to Discovery Museum in Bridgeport. You’ll combine music and science at “A Little Night Sky Music”. Listen to the music while watching a star show in the planetarium. Money raised supports local non-profits. It starts at 6:30.

Looking for something that’s fun for the entire family? Head to New Haven on Saturday for the Leila Day Spring Fair. There will be ponies, zip lining and food trucks. It’s at 10 a.m. at Leila Day Nurseries. And it’s free.

Wallingford’s 350th birthday is coming up, and the celebration kicks off this Saturday with a parade. You’ll see members of Connecticut’s four militia companies parade through town. Don’t miss the free refreshments after the parade. It starts at 11 a.m. at Moses Y. Beach School.
