BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – Hillary Clinton held a “Get Out the Vote” rally in Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon. This was her third event in Connecticut in the past several days. She had an event in Hartford on Thursday and another in New Haven on Saturday.

Ashley McGuffie couldn’t wait to hear Clinton speak at the Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium at the University of Bridgeport. She was one of the people lined up outside well before doors opened. They were ready to rally in support of Clinton – just two days before the primary election.

“I think that she’s a very good role model, not just for young women but for young men as well,” she said. “[Clinton] really highlights the issues that we have going on today, but also shows that change is possible.”

For some in the crowd, it was the first rally they’d ever been to; others had gone to Donald Trump’s rally in Bridgeport yesterday.

“People try to fix a lot of things,” said Charlie Griggs, who attended yesterday’s Trump rally. “It’s a lot of work. It’s not that easy, and just being able to draw a crowd and make people scream and yell…very different crowd here.”

And more than 1,200 people made up that crowd. When they headed inside they hoped they’d be seeing the future President of the United States.

“You see television shows of the political rallies, things like that, and to actually be at one – it’s my first one – it’s pretty exciting and I’m excited to be here,” said Breanna Lujan, a Clinton supporter.

Senators Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal offered Clinton their support too. When Clinton took the stage she talked about raising minimum wage and keeping communities safe.

“This gun violence knows no boundaries, no borders,” she said.

The crowd cheered as Clinton pledged to defend the Affordable Care Act – a show of solidarity for the candidate they support. Clinton pledged that she would support them.

“We have to be smart, lead with our values and furtherance of our interests and protection of our security,” she said. “That’s exactly what I will focus on.”

Hillary Clinton wrapped up the rally by asking for everyone’s vote on Tuesday and by continuing to fight for everybody there.
