(WTNH) — The weather has been warmer – are you looking to find something fun to do this weekend. We’ve got some ideas for you, and many of them are outdoors.
Looking for something to do on Saturday? Head to the Community Action Agency of New Haven for its Passport to Prosperity Walk and Activity Day. The festivities start at 10 a.m. with a 3 mile walk, then continue with food and music. The event empowers kids and helps them be a positive change in their neighborhood.
Do you know what this Sunday is? It’s Daffodil Day at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown. Besides the blooming daffodils you’ll see a bubble demonstration, live music and a dog parade. It starts at 1 p.m. and it’s free.
How about a 5K run or walk right along Long Island Sound? The Niantic Bay Boardwalk 5K is this Sunday morning at 10 o’clock. Besides the race there will be a fun run for the kids. You’ll have a great view of the sound from the newly restored boardwalk. It will be at McCook Park in Niantic.
Are you looking for something to do on Saturday night? Head to the Orange Ale House in Orange. The Green Beret Foundation will be having a fundraiser. It’s open to everyone and it’ll help families in need. It starts at 4 p.m.
Friday is Earth Day, but you can celebrate on Saturday if you head to Woodbury. Enjoy music, food and earth-friendly demonstrations. There will be activities for kids of all ages. Head to Hollow Park at 11 a.m. Something else to celebrate – it’s free.
Want to get outside while doing something good for the community? Head to New London for the Walk to End Homelessness. The course is about 2 miles long and it starts on Huntington Street. Don’t miss the food and entertainment afterward! It’s this Sunday at 2 p.m.
Whether you’re Polish or not you won’t want to miss the Little Poland Festival in New Britain. It’s on Sunday at 10 a.m. on Broad Street. There you’ll find a celebration of all things Polish, including art, music and food. Get your picture taken with Stanley the Little Poland Dragon or Pierogi the Penguin. And it’s free.
Or if you’ll be in New Haven on Sunday swing by Wooster Square for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. It will really feel like spring has sprung as you check out all the cherry trees. Listen to music, get something to eat and explore the children’s area. There will be an area for pets too. It starts at noon.
