BERLIN, Conn. (WTNH) — There was plenty of sunshine for the last day of the Berlin Fair. The turnout was low for the first two days because of the rainy and cold weather.

Fairgoers started arriving early Sunday morning to enjoy the festivities. There was lots of food for them to choose from. Local organizations, including the Berlin Fire Department, had booths at the fair. Most of the money raised goes back into the community.

Families come every year to show their animals. They were there early this morning getting the cattle ready for competitions. They hope the fair will help teach folks why farming is so important. Organizers were expecting a record turnout today.

“This is our fair. This is a community event so the people in Berlin continuously come here,” said Lenny Tubbs, Vice President of the Berlin Fair. “The people that come to the Berlin Fair, they won’t miss it even if it snowed – and we have had snow on this fairgrounds at this time of year.”

This year there was a special museum at the fair to remember the September 11th terrorist attacks. It was founded by the family of a New York firefighter who died on 9/11.
